Im treating my guppy with fungus and removed the carbon from the filter will it be ok to put the 4 bags of carbon in my guppy fry tank for a week or will that spread the disease to them? If so is the carbon ok to dry out for a week?

Yes, if you dried it well, then will be active

You should know also, that carbon will not active as you bought it, time by time, it will loss it's activety

I'd toss the carbon if it was in contact with disease. Not worth the risk. SH

Carbon is fairly pointless, it's sold as something that needs replacing often.

Most people rarely, if ever, use it. It pulls in some nutrients for a limited time, and then stops. Those it pulls in aren't that bad. All it really can do is take out meds and tanins from bogwood (though most fish we keep prefer the tanins as it closer replicates their natural environment).

I would replace it with ceramic, or sponge, media to enable greater biological filtration.

I agree with andywg. I haven't used carbon since starting my tank up. It's main function now is to remove medications after treating your tank. It's extra money out the door. It's worth keeping one bag around for emergencies but the days of changing your carbon every 3 months are done. SH
