Hiya,

Sorry to be a pain and keep asking questions

I got a couple of plants from the LFS which came with some white foam like stuff round the base and lead weights round it. I read that the wool stuff should be removed if they are in pots but should I remove this white stuff and the lead weights? The roots seem to be very long and hard.

I've also ordered some plants from ebay so don't know how they'll come.

I have fine 2-3mm gravel, will the plants take in that? I need to add some more as I only have about 1 inch of depth.

Also, when I use the gravel cleaner, should I avoid the areas where the plants are?

Great forum BTW! :good:

Take off the lead weights and the foam, they would restrict the roots, and then plant the plants in the gravel, if they won’t stay down then build a bit more gravel around them, or leave a little lead at the base of the stem until the plant anchors. When cleaning the gravel just suck up any crud on the gravel near the plants, no need to plunge the cleaner in the gravel around plants.
