Okay, I'm pretty good at the whole fish thing but I'm new to fry. I've got 1 that's about 2 1/2 months old and the rest are probably going on 1 month. There are 6 total. Now I've got a nice 10-gallon set up for them to go in because they're all still in a net and I'm worried about stunted growth. The old one is about 3/4 to and inch long and the rest are 1/4 to 1/2 an inch. Now, should I move the big one straight into the tank or the ten-gallon? I'm just worried something will go wrong in the 10-gallon. My 20-gallon has a swordtail, gourami, and 3 platys.

6 fry in a 10G tank will be fine it wont stunt thier growth, the large one will be ok in your main tank but if you stil feel worried keep it with the others,
increase the growth of the fry by feeding combination of live food and flakes 3 X a day and do 10% water changes every day to keep nitrates down due to increased feeding and you will find they will grow SUPER FAST

Okay, the large one is about the size of my 4 neon tetras so I guess it will be ok.

If you are worried make sure your tank setup offers plenty of places to hide; if it does then the fry will find them no problem and especially like good planting. Then take into account how much of a risk you want to take.

Mine are growing faster than the grass outside, I feed them little and often, apart from the morning feed when I give them a lot. Before I go to bed, I use a small pot to take out any uneaten food on the surface as well as any broken leaves or rubbish from them / the plants.

The biggest of my 23 day old fry are now around 3/4 of an inch and I haven't lost any yet (touch wood). I don't change the water every day but then the tank their net is in is much bigger, so overall the increase of feeding wouldn't be as high as it would be for you.

Good luck with your fry, enjoy watching them continue to grow. :)
