Hi,

I have acouple of Fry fish which i saved from been eatten by the other fish in my tank, they have been living in bottles that sit inside my tank for 2-3weeks? they both are around 1CM in lenght, the bottle they live in is cleaned every 2 days and plently of holes poked in there to keep water flow...so they are both healthly and growing now quite fast.

I was wondering when can they be released into the main with the others? can i do this now or is there a size i should wait till they get before i do it.

the fish i have are:
4 Ruby Sharks
2 African Lumpheads (Female and male which is quite large and could possibly swallow them whole)
4Guppies
2Glass cats
1 Crab
4 Barbs
1 Cat fish

Its a well planted 180litre tank

I have a fry tank, so i release my fry back in to the main tank when they are around 1inch, as i also have a breeding pair of angels in there.
How big are the other fish? it's good saying what you've got, but also need to know how big they are
To be honest i would wait a bit longer, as 1cm is a bit small

Probably 3cm should be safe, but they are unlikely to reach that size in a bottle.

Your sharks will eventually fight and kill each other, once they are fully mature, because they become very territorial. Glass catfish are schooling, so should be kept in groups of 6+, or even better, 10-15+. Crabs will eat fish and most need access to land. Barbs are schooling.

the sharks have all matured.. they all are at least 8inches to 12inches long... they have been living together for well over a year now they sometimes group together in this clay plant pot i got, strange i know and they rub up against it quite alot.

The barbs are the oranges ones, there about 2inch and cost 8quid a pair.

Glass cats are at least Inch and half.

African lump head is about 8 inches in lenght but is a big guy, and the female is about 2inches.

Crab seems to sit inside my pump all day never actually see him along the bottom and if he is hes just having a go at ripping my plants to bits.

the guppies are all fully grown.

I have another tank which i have been meaning to setup so i will get that up and running and drop the fry into it

The general rule of thumb is that when they're so big the other fish can't get them into their mouths they can be put in the main tank.

This is very unusual! Especially since these sharks normally only grow to 6".. can we have a photo please? The behaviour you describe is that of loaches actually, it is not one which is often observed in sharks.

Again, very unusual size.. these guys normally max out at 5" or so, although I have heard of them growing slightly bigger. Would also be interesting to see a photo of these guys too..

Hello, ill try to get pictures for you guys.. i dont have a phone, and i was asking the misses to get a picture of my tank setup for acouple of weeks now.

I miss wrote the inches bit for the Ruby Sharks i actually ment CM... sorry im on anti depressants from my some personal issues, so its quite hard for me to consentrate at the min.

But the Lump head is very sizeable... they told me in the fish shop he was a full size when i got him... Cost me £3.50 dropped him into my tank and hes still growing ever so slowly, feed him blood worm every morning, flake at dinner, and drop aload of mirco worms in the after noon

ill get some pictures as soon as i can
