Hi,

I have just got a regal tang and I want to make sure I feed him/her right.

Currently I feed my fish 'New Era' in the morning ans frozen in the evening. However tang being a herbivore should I get some of the 'NewEra Herbivore' and feed this to him. I actually have a sample of the 'New Era Herbivore' but when I fed it my clowns liked it too lol. The regal seems to be doing ok on the normal New Era and frozen, but just want to check!

Thanks, Michael

well the simple answer is the fish will eat what it wants to and diversity is the key to a good diet. So IMO if it will eat the herbivore food go ahead and add it to the diet. The more variety you provide the less likely you will loose a fish to dietary reasons.

I feed my fish the New Era food they really like it.

Funnily enough my rabbit fish prefers the marine flakes over the herbivore stuff.

I feed Marine in morning, Herbivore Midday and Marine at night

I also supplement with dried seaweed; Julian Sprungs stuff which he really likes.

The thing is that although fish eat plants they arent after the plants itself but the organisms that live inside those plants, so generally tangs and all other herbivorous fish are essentially omnivores.

Oh cool,

I only feed mine 2wice a day, so I will add the Herbivore food into the newera cycle. I have only being feeding the marine flake food. But I am getting the other 2 new era foods today and will get the Herbivore aswell andthen rotate every 2 weeks.
