i paid 88 pounds for it as its lab grade i believe but is it any good

well it gives you your salt level ok so i would thinks so it must be worth the money

You need a scale that is going to cover the range of sg you are working with. We keep reef tanks around 1.025-1.026, therefore you need a refractometer that has this scale somewhere around the middle. Will have a look at the range on mine in a bit and post it for you.

It is a good bit of kit, just the wrong application. Can you return it??
 
I have the D-D refractometer, tthe scale on mine goes from 1.000 - 1.070 d20/20 0/00 Salinity (shown when you look into the display.

Yours appears to be very precise as the scale is a very narrow range, however it is not made for the application you want it for.
 
well its been in my cuboard for two months so cant return it ok ill figure somthing out thanks for the help

and yeah its acurate to 0.00001 apparently
