First of all I'm unsure of the proper terminology here - I have a Juwel Rio 125. It has a built in filter - out of one side is the air pump etc, in the other is a section of grates which is where everything is sucked in. I'm not sure if this is just called "filter" or something else but I'll stick with that for now!
Anyway, I bought a siamese fighting fish over the weekend. He is lovely and much friendlier than I thought he would be! But my question is, he keeps getting sucked towards the filter
I've turned it down to it's lowest setting so he's not constantly being dragged at it. He CAN free himself, I just hate seeing him with his lovely fins pinned against it before he tries to move
Is there any way I can turn this down, perhaps some sort of cover or something like that?
I should note here that despite all the hours we spend sitting here and staring at the tank this has only actually happened about two or three times to our knowledge, but that was enough to scare me!
As I said he CAN free himself and he seems happy aside from that (I think it bothers me more than it does him), but I'd like to know if there is a way around it before I buy him his own tank or end up having to take him back.
Our current plan is to make a sort of box around it - basically make a box that is like the vents, but sticks a bit out so that things that aren't fish can still get through the box - but his poor tail can't get in the way.
If this doesn't work and there's no other options we WILL get him hiw own little tank or take him back, but if at all possible I'd like to keep him in the bigger one.
