Just wondered if anyone knows any good places to get some quite large bits of root wood, checked green machine, aqua essentials and aquarium gardening but nothing really big enough.

Dont know where you are but whalf aquatics in Notts had somme very big bits in the other weekend.

Thats a shame, they had some great bits in, some where larger than 4ft by 2ft. Just rescaped my tank or would have been tempted.

have just had a look around for you Steve and there doesn't appear to be anything over 22" on the net. There was some cracking manzanita kicking around a while back, but that all seems to have gone.

I know, I've been searching around for a while and cant find anything so far, the largest was 23" on fleabay.

I can get a pic tomorrow if you like, but heres what I used in mine (120 x 45 x 40cm)

What size tank do you have?

Thanks, Aaron

Well I need odd bits to add Java Fern to in the background, they wont be seen but its mainly to keep the rhizome out of the substrate but they will prob be quite flat lumps of wood.

Why don't you make your own? It's pretty easy, my granda made me a treew branch thing with a base and wedged it all in in about 10 minutes start to finish, looks pretty good aswell if i do say so myself, and then you can create your own design and make flat bits where you want them etc.

Well all the low down stuff doesn't matter too much but then driftwood is driftwood because its been drifting around in rivers and what not so I'd be worried if I put something in my tank that may have been treated at some point which would harm the fish.
