I'm currently in the middle of treating my fish for whitespot after my wild caught Pseudotropheus Acei or Synodontis Petricola bought it into the tank with them.
I've been treating with Protozin and have started my second round of treatment.
I got back today and noticed that one of my acei has very noticable reddening/blood spots where its anal fin meets it's body. There is absolutely no damage to the fin itself, just this area of reddening/blood spots where the body meets the fin, along the entire length of the fin.
Water quality is spot on. Ammonia 0, Nitrire 0, Nitrate 15. It's hard to decribe the actual reddening, but it does appear to be blood.
Would this be finrot? I can't understand why if so as the water conditions are good and it's only at the fin base.
What's the best course of treatment considering I am already using Protozin. Can I still use Melafix?
I haven't been able to get a picture but the reddening is very much like my crudely edited Microsoft Paint picture below. There are clear larger blood sports reasonably evenly space apart with smaller areas of reddening between.
