my platy fish have super red gills and have 4 at least 2 months even thoe i used tc tetracyclene and the ammonia is fine and has been 4 the whole time. I wouldent mind it but I would like to add more fish because two platys in a ten gallon tank is just a super waste of space. ps they have both givin birth to only one fry.

Could you tell us why you treated with tetracycline? While red gills could be a sign of an infection, it's possible that it started off with parasites of some type. Are the fish panting or hanging out near the filter?

I would probably hazard a guess at "....and the ammonia is fine and has been FOR the whole time..."

Terry.
