Red Zebra Mbuna

is there any sure fire way to properly sex red zebras? now a days, both sexes are red. i know when they mature, the males get a blue sheen, but how can you tell with young guys, like at a pet store?

The only way to tell is to vent them. That is take the fish flip it over and look at the sex organ. There are two holes one is the anus the other the sex organ. the female sex organ should be larger than teh anus, the males the same size. I will say this is difficult to do in young fish.
