Hi

I would like to buy a torpedo barb cos they look amazing. But would it be compatible with my current stock list? So far I have a peaceful 46 (uk) gal tank with all fish as pals:

3 x albino corys, 1 x ruby shark, 1 x siamese sucking loach, 1 x angelfish, 2 x rainbow fish, 4 x gouramis

Are the torpedos ok on their own or in shoals?

thanks for helping x

Hi
It is a risky one as torpedo barbs not only are the same shape but also have the shark red colouring,
Regardless of tankmmates, Torpedo barbs should be kept in groups, if you can't keep/afford at least 3 then they shouldn't be brought as they will not do well.

Red Line Torpedos grow to around 6" long and prefer to be in schools of 6 or more, they seem to be fine in my 52 ukg tank but they do use the full 4 feet of length when swimming. to be honest i think they would be happier in a larger tank.

as for whether they will be ok with the ruby shark, they do look quite 'sharky' so they may be a few scuffles

thanks for the info - does anyone else have experience with this fish?
