Well I just got this tiger oscar and it seems like he's too heavy to swim or something. He would sit on the gravel and he would float up for a second and then fall back down to the gravel. Once, he swam against the wall of the aquarium and got up to about halfway up the aquarium but once he was in open water and didn't have the wall for support, he fell down, just like gravity would pull us down. Do oscars need a little salt water? Is the water not dense enough for the oscar to float in?

It's usually their wierd antics while getting used to the environment. Just give him some time to adjust. They are freshwater fish and don't need salt.

You'll find Oscars to be moody its not uncommon for them to sit and pout-Anne

Is it possible to feed my oscar earth worms that I dig up from my backyard? He's about 2" right now and we don't use any pesticides in our backyard. If I can, how should I prepare them?

Just rinse them, and only use them as a treat IMO.
