Am I correct in my assumption that this leaf which is shooting to the top (currently 6" higher than any other leaf) will be the one to flower? Is there anything I should be aware or cautioned of by letting it flower if so?

How long does the flower usually live?

Thanks as always!

That is just a leaf I'm affraid, leafs don't flower. What would happen is all the leaves reach the top of the water, then a shoot is produced. The shoot will flower. I have been keeping lilys for a year or so now and not got one to flower. The thing you have to do is let all the leaves reach the surface. I always find they end up over taking the tank and blocking light. So I have to prune mine every week or two.

All of the leaves up to this point have stayed low and spread out. I wonder if this is a rogue leaf or if something changed within the plant and they will start shooting up now.
