Red texas?

Don't believe it is naturally occurring. Prolly a hybrid.

Either way I would'nt touch it. May even be injected with dye. I will try to find out the particulars on this "FISH".

yeah i figured that
was kinda hoping it wasn't the case,that fish imo is kick a$$.hybrid or not if i see it it's going going gone.
i'm not a hybrid fan but the red on that fish is awsome,even if it's only half as red as the pic i gotta have one. :love:
any info would be great.

Keep in mind...pics are that may seem to good to be true...usually are.

I have NEVER seen a fish THAT red before either...thats why I am skeptical as to it's authenticity.

May even be computer enhanced. I know of a few breeders on-line who doctor their photos to make the fish more appealing, but I will try to find out if it is real.

only fish I've seen that red are marine fish.
Not sure about anything else, could be a hybrid or the pics been fotoshoped to make it more apealling. Don't think it's been died though, the colour looks too natural.

i don't think they have THAT color anywhere in their lab :laugh:
and if it's fotoshopped well all i can do is hope thats its not.

The answer will be in the genetics if it really is the colour(selective breeding).
I'll wait and see what Larry comes up with then depending I may have a go to see what I can come up with.

OK just emailed a dealer I know who handles S/C American cichlids.

If anyone would know if this is a true color varient or manmade he will...

Ok here it is,

The "Super Red Texas Cichlid" is a HYBRID out of Asia.

Another MANMADE oddity. If it appears I am ANTI hybrid...your right.

We as dedicated aquarists need to recognize the importance of NOT buying into these fish as it will only encourage their continued development.
