i am myteriously losing my neons in my tank the only fish that i could identify as aggresive is the red tailed black shark. As yet no corpses have been found so a really dont know wat happened is it possible that my shark (5-6cm) is eating them. If it is i dont know wat to do because i like my neons but the shark is my favourite in the tank and getting another tank is outa the question... already got 3 tanks... one of which was purchased due to tiger barbs vs neon tetra!

How big is the tank in gallons or litres.

Thats ok then, does the shark has his own hiding spaces, they are very aggressive, and yes they will eat the neons, what do you feed the fish.

More frozen foods like bloodworms, daphnia, micro worms, tubilex worms, and veg.
Might help him not want to eat the neons, but now he has a taste for them, there isn't much that can be done, only feed him the above, and try and fill him up so he dosn't want a neon snack.

Not to get off topic here, but Allan that is the funniest, yet sickest cartoon dealie next to your name thing I have ever seen LOL

hmm if hes only 5-6cm long then i doubt its him tho.

plus ive had 3 RTBs and they havent gotten aggresive till there fairly old and big.

even with RTBs.

i dunno tho, does a neon look like it can fit in the sharks mouth?

My money is on the escape to victory plan!

Have a look around and under the tank - they could be jumping if the RTB is chasing them.

They can find the tiniest gaps even if you do have a lid on the tank.

Yea i was reading this forum and thinking the same thing!
This fish is only 5-6cm long, and the species has a smallish mouth at this size. Unless the neons are like less than 1cm long, he will have been eating them.
They have probably escaped some how. Is there any other oranaments/possible hiding places they could have gone into and/or become trapped? Test the amonia levels if you can. If I'm correct, a rotting fish should make them high right?

What am I on about? The shark would have eaten a dead neon over night wouldn't it?? :S

hi there so i dont think that its him eating them as the neons are bigger that 1cm... i was advised to make the aggressive fist the last ones i put in so the RTBS is the baby of the bunch, as for around the tank i have found no boddies but when i lost a neon the last time they were much smaller and it got sucked into the filter. Checked everywhere...hmmmm...As for my avatar it is good. I also own 2 chinchillas and was on a forum and i got asked to "please refrain from using the avatar as it is disgusting and morbid" LOL!!!!!!

If the shark had eaten the neon what would happen to bones or would i not notice a tiny neon skeleton? i remember the "Tiger barb vs. Neon tetra" experience of seeing a barb excreating the digested neon... i have pics if ppl are interested... LOL!!!

That's because those chinchilla owners are a depressive lot. No sense of humor like us highly evolved fish folk! ;)

I like your avatar quite a bit!
