Hi my rosey barb has started to act realy strange, i have videos and pictures you can see the pink small lumps which have appeared to the top and bottom fin. They
dont seem to be getting bigger but she has started to move realy strange. She keeps pointing her whole body down ways so her nose is facing the stones and her fins flicker so fast. Then all of a sudden she will act normal again. I have no other barbs in the tank as ive had a major problem with my tank lately. Fish keep dyeing but some dont look ill or have anything obvious like lumps. Myself and my neighbour have been finding levels of ammonia in our tap water. This is before anything is added and before its even gone into the fish tank.
Im just puzzled now what to do.

I do my water changes and add tap safe and i have had all these different aquatic shops advising me different things and nothings helped. Latest victim was another guppy and a danio.

some stores say use bottled water, is this ok? im not sure whos advice to take anymore.

Also my neighbours fish are dyeing about the same rate as mine roughly one every few weeks, theyv only had there tank set up about 6 months now and did everything by the book so to speak. there water directly from the tap also showed up with ammonia in it.

i feel bad that the fish are now dyeing and some fish are now left without a partner. dont want to add anymore fish until i know its safe.

hope ive done the pics correctly :/

I've had this posted elsewhere on the site but I'm not really sure what I'm doing and I've taken this tank over coz my boyfriend has been lazy and neglected his fish.
the top spits on fiz are getting worse. I've tried a disease treatment in the water but with no luck. now my guppys seem to be needing air. all hovering at the top.
I don't know what to do : (

I'm not sure about the bumps..but I have a 3 1/2 year old tiger barb that is about the size of a US fifty cent piece and a few times a day he lays motionless in the water the same way your rosey does..it's almost like he's resting and kind of top heavy and that's just the way his head falls.. and his fin's twitch too. But he's healthy as a whistle..

I'm sorry I've just read the post on what I'm supposed to put here
well il try.
apparantly my water levels show ammonia but the tap
water shows ammonia before it's even in the tank. this is a recent discovery as myself and my neighbour couldn't understand why our fish were dyeing. u till a guy from Severn trent eater came for a random water test.
I don't know a lot about fish to be honest but I'm trying.
so I took the tank over about 8 months ago an all was fine. I did small water changes go start with as my boyfriend hadbt done any for well forever.
so for the past 6 months I've done a 10-15 % water change depending on how dirty the stones were. this was done every 2 weeks. advised by out local store.
I've added tap safe correct quantities and most recently since the fish deaths over the past 3 months I've used a disease treatment which covers bacterial and fungal infections after being advised my another aquatic store.
another store said they thought my fish needed air and to get another air stone to create more movement and to get plants. so I did this and now have a snail in there which apparently can hold
parasites.
well that's about as much info as I know. : /

thanks fishchick but fiz is getting worse now. the top red spots are spreading further next to the top part on the picture : ( il try get another pic

Maybe try adding ammonia chips to reduce the ammonia levels, also you can reduce the ammount you feed them daily which in turn will reduce the ammount of rotting wasted food and excrement which produces ammonia..

il look into the ammonia chips thanks : )

OH MY GOD
I have baby snails in the tank. : ( infested now
what now : (

i wouldn't reccomend bottled water because they have a tendency to have additives that can be very harmful to your fish..

Have you seen her poop lately..If it's white and stringy looking it's an internal parasite which can be treated..

ya snails are like rabbit's if you know what i mean..the eggs look like clear white balls with a white spot in the center..i would try removing any that you find..

theres actual baby snails in there, i can see them crawling everywhere. :(

ive not noticed her poop lately but then again none of the fish ever seem to have trails. i only feed them every other day so i try not to overfeed.
shes hideing a lot when i go to take a pic. shes usualy not shy. shes chomping on the cucumber but every time i move shes hideing :(

i say she but it might be a he as im just going off what the store told me.

i think this tanks a lost cause. :(
im going to go to the aquatic store hopefuly tommorow if my boss will let me leave early. if not my neighbour might pop out for me.

im just worried they l fob me off and get me to buy the whole store :/

I dont think im going to be able to find all of these snails theyr so small. is there anything i can put in the tank to get rid of them.
i believe its a ramshorn snail

sorry if my spellings odd im typing on my iphone and its a bit small

i would start by possibly treating for ich if you haven't already. It will rid any external parasite there might be. Just be sure if you do you remove your adult snails first, and any invertebrates you might have..as for the babies you might try to vaccuum your gravel or sand and see if that will pick some of them up?.? And grab as many as you can see, put them somewhere safe, and talk to your lfs and see if they will take them in exchange for credit?? Sorry i don't know more but I will definately keep researching the spot on fiz for you, and see if i can find anything..One more idea too..another way to treat external parasites that's easy is by adding more salt and increasing your heat..:)

And don't give up....remember fiz is counting on you..as well as all the other fish :)

thanks so much. just got in from work. I'm glig to turn the temp up a little and add more salt. going to go do the store now an find something for parasites. fiz is worse today. her top fin is almost decaying away. it's more red and White on there aswell.

I've put the parasite treatment in and it says to put more in after 4 days. so hopefully it will work

oh good..I really hope it does too..in the mean time i would just look online and keep trying to find out what it is exactly in case the treatment doesn't work..that's what I've done a bunch..just google his symptoms and see what you can find..Best of luck :)
