I started a post here mainly to do with the suitability of my substrate but one of my cory's is unwell. (just for a little background)

This is the best picture I can get of him I'm afraid. The cory has a sore behind his left gill.
He is very lethargic
His breathing is very rapid
He won't eat
He won't play/forage with the other cory's
A few days ago the 'sore' was a blister which seems to have burst.

Tank stats:
Capacity: 30uk gallons
ph: 7.5
no3: 15ppm
no2/ammonia: 0ppm
Inhabitants: 4 glass catfish
10 glowlight tetra
4 trilli corydoras
Live plants and two large pieces of bogwood

The tank has been set up for three months now.

I'll try and get a better picture tomorrow morning (lights are off now).

Sores are bacterial but can be caused by parasites.
To be honest the fish sounds like its on its last legs.

Have you noticed any signs of your fish flicking and rubbing against objects in the tank.

Hi Wilder,

No flicking at all, and the other cory's and fish are completly fine, he just sits on the gravel and that's about it.

Should I seperate him maybe stick him in my floating breeding trap?

Maybe a salt bath would help but I'm reluctant to do that becasue I've heard that corydora are very sensitive to salt.

He needs treating with a bacterial med, but to be honest it sounds like the med might be to late.
When you keep corys you need sand or round gravel that isn't sharp, as they can cuts themselves otherwise.
Do you think the sore has been caused by your substrate or something in the tank.

I have interpet no.9 in my cupboard, is it worth giving it a go with that?

I have a bad feeling that it has been caused by the substrate in my tank. Like I said in my post in the corydoras section I have a silica sand/coral sand mix and i think the coral sand may be too sharp.

I only have bogwood, smooth pebbles and live plants in my tank as well as the substrate so the substrate being the culprit is my best guess.

The other cory's are fine though.

Sorry its been that busy didn't read through the whole thread.
I no changing subsrate is a pain and takes for ever, but I would consider changing it.
Yes anti internal bacteria med is fine.
Good luck.

Thanks for your help, Wilder.

I definately will change the substrate once my cory gets better-hopefully.
