Hello
I took in a Red severum not too long ago who was in need of some attention. It had not had a good time in life and was sunken in its belly and quite slim. It does have what appears to be a very fine red hair hanging from its vent which I have taken to be an internal worm which would explain the sunken belly. Sometimes the worm can be 1-2cm long and sometimes it can be 3mm long and sometimes it isn't there at all.

I am however finding it extremely difficult to cure this issue and am requesting help before it becomes too late.

I have twice now tried dosing with the anti parasite med known as sterazin (full course of dosing) and I have tried to use some wormer medication twice at directed dosing.

I have attempted to order a product known as Sera Nematol from three seperate online sites of which all three have not had any available stock for the foreseeable future. I have also travelled to many local aquatic stores to no avail.

Which brings me here, to settle possible ideas and to request help in curing this marvellous fish.

An idea that has me torn is wether a strong sterazin bath may cure this. I have been reluctant however on the grounds that I do not want to cause more harm than good. Would it possibly work though?

What other options do I have?

Thankyou

Sterazin by waterlife dosn't treat camallanous worms.
Also wormer plus dos'nt work on camallanous worms.

The only med that seems to work on camallanous worm in the uk is the sera nematol med.

There also a jbl med but it hard to get hold of at lfs. You have to order it online.

Hello
Thankyou for your help, I will keep it in mind. I ordered some Sera nematol from ebay last night and am told it has been dispatched today so all being well it should be with me tomorrow. I hope :/

Do you know how long this medication should take to cure this problem on average? I suppose the only way to tell if it has gone for good is too sit and wait for no further signs of a worm too? -_-

Members usually notice by the second treatment the worms have completely gone, and the fish starts to put weight back on.
When you finished the first round, add some anti internal bacteria med by intepet.
You have to back up with a bacterial med with camallanous worms.

Hello
First lot of nematol was put in yesterday morning. I was about to do the required 80% water change ready for the dose of anti internal meds, however it seems that there are some very clear signs of ich that have appeared.

Do I carry on with the plan and simply raise the temp at the same time or should plans now change because of this?

There esha exit whitespot med, and esha 2000, which is a bacterial med.
You can use both these meds together.
