Red Rust

I went away for a day and when i came back there was quiet a bit of this red rust growing on my tanks glass. Is this a type of algae? or something a little more dangerous? Came off with alittle scrubing

Sounds like Brown Algae, It normally appears in cycling or newly cycled tanks and should disappear within a couple of months.

Thanks for the answer must be because my snails have become less active. Glad to hear it is not a danger.
