I'm just setting up a new tank and like the look of red moor wood as something a bit more interesting than standard bogwood but everywhere mentions that it breaks down in water. Does anyone know how long a piece will last for in a tropical tank? Don't want to have to get new bits every few months!

Thought I would reply in this topic rather than starting a new one - is the stuff going to sink eventually or do I need to weigh it down? (been floating in the tank for about 24hrs now -_- )

it can take a while to sink depending on the size. Some people who want it weighing down from the start put some rocks on it or drill a hole through a piece of slate and use cable ties to tie it to the slate.

It does take a while to fully sink, my piece had to be weighed down for about 7-8 days before (piece is 3 foot long)
