I went to the British Livebearers Association auction on Sunday, having never really been into livebearers before and of course, I came back with some fish! I couldn't resist these fantastic Red Lace Snakeskin Guppies.

Low and behold, after only a day I already have fry! Anyhow, here are a few pics :)

And the fry:

Few more pics of the tank and one of the Leopard Endlers I bought in the members tank photos section here!

He was one of the ones I really wanted, and it was almost pot luck that I got him. The way some of the auctions were run, some of the lots didn't have specific lot numbers, so it was pot luck when the auctioneer read out "Lot C, Red Lace Snakeskin guppies - pair".

WOW  - Spot looks even better now than at the show, bet that guy is kicking himself now.
He said - Lovley Triangular Tail, just the shape i was looking for and a spot on the tail aswell with nice snak pattern.

He has your email - so i guess he may want to buy him

Its amazing how many times you get a live bearer home after a purchase and they drop their fry the next day-Looks like you've got a result there-of course you'll have to many fry and THATS WHERE I COME IN! LOL

Hi Dev nice fish, that seconed one defo has a good shape to the tail and would be a good show fish.

BLA guppy show is in OCT in Nott's ;) if your intrested, their be another auction then as well :D

Oooh, don't start me! I don't have enough tanks for more! I need to setup my last tank incase of more fry! I've managed to count 6 now, but probably a few more hiding :)

I've also just finished planting out the nano tank. The endlers really seem to have settled now, and have been chasing around the long tweezers that I've been using to plant things with

I've posted a couple more pics on my other thread of the endlers :)

Thanks for all the comments so far. If the fry survive and turn out anywhere near as gorgeous as the adults then watch this space :p

Fry are already looking a little larger. Raised my first baby brine shrimp and fed them yesterday. Fry seemed to like them, but so did the adults! I've noticed the adults will eat the tiny fry food I'm using too. They seem to spend ages picking it off the water surface

Well, the fry have grown a lot. I have 6 fry in total. It seems I have 2 or maybe 3 males and 3 or maybe 4 females. At least 2 of the fry are developing the snakeskin patterns, with a few spots on their bodies and orange comming through on the tails. The body shapes all look similar still.

I moved all of these guys into a larger tank a while back which you can see here...

Just thought I'd post an updated pic of my favourite of the 4 adults :)

Great fish there, i believe the red lace also produce blue blue lace males as well, just select the best males to breed from as time go's on.

Wow, interesting to know!

Hi Guys,

Lovely fish.

The next big auction is in Redditch on June 8th (I think).

This is a great auction, getting bigger by the year and has many different types of livebearers.

It is becoming a real event, a real must for all fishy keepers.

Stunning guppies. Any chance you are selling the fry?( )
