K well i was looking at him as he was swimmin around and i noticed there was like a slight red color where his gills are. IT wasnt like a huge red mark but a very faint red mark where i dont think i noticed it before. It coulda been the angle but i doubt it. What does that mean? all my readings are 0 except nitrate is around 10 i think ( did test about an hour ago and cant remember) He's acting the exact same and not actin wierd at all, what does this mean?

How many fish and which type, and how many gallons is the tank, if water quality is good, red gills can mean parasites , any signs of flicking and rubbing against objects, and laboured breathing.

No signs of that, 29 gallons US, 2 guppies, 5 neons, 2 bala's and two serpa tetras

How big are the bala sharks as they need a 120gal tank, are you sure water stats are good, in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

They're babies, pretty small. I know about the tank size, im gonna return them pretty soon. I just did a test and everything is exactly 0, even nitrates. But i think the reason for the nitrate being 0 is i have about 18 planted plants in the water. Also i noticed some red/pink discolored poop that i htink was coming from the shark again :(

It sound like it could be internal parasites, i would get a magifying glass to see if they are worms prutruding from the anus, is the anus also red and inflamed.

sorry for the late response. But i was doing a big water change on the tank and making sure it was good to go for about a week ( school enviromental trip) and i'd have my sis feed em and all. I was just checking on the water stats, making sure its clear and making sure the fish are all accounted for and i noticed the red tailed shark's gills were more noticably redder than before. What can i do to kill these parasites?

Need to no water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, as bad water quality can cause red gills, any flicking and rubbing also.
