Hello, I have one 40 gallon tank which once had 6 tetra and a pleco. The pleco died and because of my inabality to lower nitrite (although the ammonia was at zero) I had to move the tetras to a emergency 10 gallon tank. The ten gallon tank is doing well but I need to find a good fish to get rid of algea. There are no ghost fish in my town so I'm at a loss. Now I have five tetra (we think one died of old age ) and three small mollies in the 10 gallon but because of the current members in the 40 gallon, I'm afraid to move the mollies into the big tank.
I decided to get a few tiger barbs to restart the tank after cycling. I got 2 pairs from two diffrent stores. I noticed, after buying the fish, that one was slightly red. I thought that it has ammonia poisoning from a previous tank and it quickly died. I would have not been so concerned if anouther one of the barbs handn't died. Now one of the two remaining is turning slightly red and I don't know what to do. The tank has a 75 gallon bio wheel filter, a good heater, proper airation, and a few plants. I don't know what to do.
Thanks.
