Ive been treating my tank for an outbreak of ick and one of my angel fish and two of my gourami's eyes have turned red. Ive tested the water of my tank for the usual ammonia, nitrates, etc. but i havent really found a problem. the angelfish is acting like he usally does, the gouramis have been spending a lot of time at the top of the tank... the other angelfish or any of the others are not affect as well as i can tell. can anyone give me a reason as to why their eyes are turning red, and if this is a real problem, what i can do about it?

Tank size: 30 us gal
pH:7
ammonia:0 ppm
nitrite:>25 ppm
nitrate: 0 ppm
kH:
gH:
tank temp: 80ish

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior):

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: melafix, malechite green

Tank inhabitants: 2 angelfish, 2 gourami, 3 tigerbarbs, rainbow shark, pleco

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): some plants, but i dont remember the name

thanks,
matt

Some fish are actually born with red eyes (imo its a sign of high quality fish). Don't quote me on this but im pretty sure just like the color on there body they can loose color in their eyes when thier scared or stressed.

Does it look like the are bleeding behind the eyes.

when i got the angel he had red eyes. the gourami just happened ove the last couple days. it may be blood but im not certain. they are eating regularly still, the gouramis are tending to spend more time in the top of the tank as opposed to darting around like they used to.

If the gouramis are swimming near the top, there may be low oxygen in the tank. Is it just your gouramis? Low oxygen can be fixed with airstones or other bubbling things in your tank. I'd wait for some more opinions, though. :)

Its quite normal for gouramis to stay at the top of the tank.
Get a magifying glass and take a closer look at there eyes.
But they shouldnt be darting around unless they are chasing one another.
