Good Morning to everyone Iam thinking on geting some red eye tetras when my tank is done cycleing now here is my thing can be with other tropical fish? and if so what kind of tropical fish can they be with?. Like can they be with some cory cat fish or can they be with mollies things like that if anyone can help me on that that would be great Iam geting some ideas.

Thank You. :)

They are quite a large tetra, so I hope you have the space they need. They are readily compatible with Corys, plecos, medium sized cichlids..

Livebearers (mollies included) generally require hard, alkaline water, while tetras do best in soft and acidic water, so from that point of view they are not particularly compatible.

Ok I see so what kind of livebearers can be togather? I have a 29 gallon tank being set up for tropical fish I really like the Danios I know I don't want any kind of aggrasive fish but friendly fish.

Thanks. :)

Danios aren't exactly what I would call "friendly".. they aren't nasty, just very active. If your tank is 3ft+ in length, then why not try something along these lines:

* 10 zabra danios
* 3 swordtails (careful to make sure they don't breed out of control or keep 3 males)
* 1m 1f Kribs
* 1 bristlenose pleco

As for livebeareres, it is best not to mix different species together, in my opinion, as the size and/or activity difference is too high.

If the tank is under 3ft, I would have harlequin rasboras instead of danios

I was thinking of geting zebra danios now my tank is not long it is more sqare looking.

I would go for the harlequins then, if this was my tank.

I have got harlequins, they are a good hardy fish, and good to watch, i would recommend a minimum of 6.

Iam new on this so I will ask you what are harlequins? :unsure:
Harlequin rasbora- A small shoaling Rasbora species, not as active as Danios but still very active, they shoal brilliantly

Personally, I would go for the more colourful Espei Rasbora or Hengeli Rasbora

Trigonostigma heteromorpha, search for images on the internet.. or here ;)

I like both of those too, and can recommend them equally. In my experience, the only time those have better colours is when the harlequins are not kept well enough (hengeli do have an additional "stripe", of course). So for me the main difference is size:
Trigonostigma espei: 3cm
Trigonostigma hengeli: 4cm
Trigonostigma heteromorpha: 5cm
