Is this really a red devil fish? He is only like an inch or so long and isn't really that red. They swore to my roommate who bought him that he is. He's really cute and I do think he's really a red devil but I've never seen one in real lfe before. He just is very very violent already. He's in a tank with 2-3 inch long jewel fish and a 2-3 inch long oscar.. They've all been in there for 2 hours max and they're scared in a corner cause he goes psycho on em. =(

Ogrt48, you've suddenly stacked your tank with a lot of fish that get really big. Red Devils are highly aggressive and the other fish won't stand a chance with him unless the tank is a very big tank. If they are in anything less then 75 gallons they won't last long before they start killing each other, and if it's less then 125 gallons you won't be able to keep them to adulthood. How big of a tank are all these fish in right now?

Yes he's in only a 10g right now, he's only an inch long. I'll be getting a MUCH larger tank in either may or june, which he's going to go in for sure. I've been reading up on red devils and about 50% of people say they need to be alone, any other fish will be killed, while the other 50% say some fish can survive with them..
Would a Red Devil kill or be able to live with some sort of fresh water puffer fish?

I'd definitely rule out pufferfish.

Yes, that is a red devil.

Are all three of those fish in a 10 gallon right now? If so, I'm not entirely convinced they'll all survive until you can buy a bigger tank.

You have a problem, and that problem is that you have three large (when adult,) aggressive fish, none of which can really live with either of the others. The jewel and the devil have about the same level of aggression, but the devil will get larger, so there's a real potential for them to kill one-another if you try to house them together in the future. The oscar just plain doesn't stand a chance against either of them. The jewel may be smaller than the oscar, but a jewel can tear an oscar apart.

I would definitely get rid of the Jewel and the Devil, and stick with the Oscar... provided that it is housed in a 55gl (on it's own!) or larger. Oscars are just big puppy dogs anyway... All bark and no bite. :D
