ok this might seem stupid... But!

since the red crabs come out of the water to sit on a big rock (meaning they can breath out of water) is it possible to take one out for a period of time say... on your desk? or on the floor... or whereever! just can you take them out of the tank?

Red crabs can spend some time outside water but you must allow them to choose when to get back in to the water, it may get very distressed if no water is available and make a run for it. If a red claw gets under furniture or some other small space you can forget getting it back.

If you do decide to take the crab out of water for a short time watch for foaming around the legs and keep it in a secure place. RCC's will pinch and if you get a shock and drop the crab it may escape.

hahaha, sorry that sounded funny for some reason... the whole idea of chasing a crab around your room

kewl, sounds fun.. aslong as there on a clean flat surface i guess they will be fine for a while,

thanks :)
