could i keep a red crab with my guppies, pleco's, loaches, tetra's and platy's?

I'm sure others will correct me if i'm wrong but I think that red crabs need access to dry land. They will eat small fish and require brackish (semi salt) water

spot on! Not a suitable addition to any regular community tank.

+1 never seen them correctly sold in any LFS yet

Agreed, only yesterday I visited a LFS in Leigh (North West), they were in a tank with tetras & readily available as good tank mates for tropical communities.
