Hey there,

I have a red claw crab in my freshwater tank...I was wondering what you guys thought about my moving it to my saltwater tank? Would it survive? I know that the red claw crab likes brackish water...

Dunno. They are naturally estuary animals, so maybe they could be adapted to a completely saltwater environment. Problem is I am not a big fan of experimenting on life. Hope someone else has more conclusive info, I have only my personal experience in keeping these creatures, which was not a marine environment.

You really should provide them with a refuge were they can get out of the water. My guess is that someone like nmonks would know more on the range of salinity they can tolerate. I seem to recall that they are somewhat light brackish and as such may do poorly in full strength sea water.
