I'm thinking about adding some red cherry shrimp to my 30g sump. They'd be cohabiting with a couple ghost shrimp, a dozen bumble bee gobies, and hoards of Malaysian trumpet snails. Any word on if they would live in brackish, if they would breed, and could they play nice with the others in the tank? I'm hoping they'd be prolific breeders which might provide some food for my figure 8's and red chromides in the main tank.

sg: 1.004
ph: 7.8

Thanks!

well, i do know they will get along with ghosts, and most snails.

By all means maintain algae shrimps in brackish water; most species do quite well at low salinities. But forget about them providing any meaningful supplement to the diet of your fish: these predators will eat them all long before they get a chance to breed.

Cheers, NEale

Hi Neale, they'd actually be living in the sump (30 g sump) and after they breed I'd periodically move some from the sump to the main tank where the predators are. I just might give it a shot, thanks!
