Hi , I`ve recently upgraded my tank and since have developed red algae, it cleans off Ok but has grown back, the only difference is the lighting which are now STD Arcadia Tropical and I`ve started using Seachem Flourish to help the plants. PH8.3 GH 14 KH 14

Any ideas why it`s red ? And how to get rid of it ?

Thanks, I might try it I just wondered if there was a more scientific reason for the red algae ?
I actually want thick lush green algae , typical !

Red algea, if I remeber right, is very nutritious.Malawis are a veggy eating fish( need it) so I say that you should keepit. But it is your descision.

Got to say it looks good....
More interesting than green too.
Anyway its better than my pooh coloured algae!

Red alage is fairly common in marine setups - indeed i have it in mine. I have never seen it in a FW tank though - trust you nick.

Looks very different if you ask me, a welcome break from the norm. Nice photo too! Keep us updated with the washing of the rocks. Always with washing the rocks!

I have ALOT of red algae in my tank.. ALL of my lace rock is covered in it.. I just flip the rocks over when I clean my tank and it goes away on the bottom side but grows on the top.. I've never had a problem with it but have been told my the LFS that it has to do with water quality..

which could be true.. I have kinda neglected my tank as of lately...
