After much debate, i have started to treat my betta, Monet, with bettafix by API. Hes doing well, his fin rot is starting to clear up and hes as happy as ever but i still have concerns for him. Currently i am treating him in the small tank (1.5L, about 1/2 a gallon) and im debating wether to change his water. Normally i would change his water in that tank every couple of days. The instructions say to only change the water after a week but i dont want to ammonia levels to build up. I started to treat him wednesday in a bare tank, except for a thermometer to keep track on the tank temperature.

So my question is, should i change (or do a partial change) of water in his tank to get rid of the poop on the bottom of the tank? Should just continue with the dose reccomended on the pack (ie. 12 drops per litre per day) or make the concerntration up to where it would have been if i hadnt done a water change?

Thanks

When I've been in similar situations with other tropical fish, I've changed the water and added medicine to make it up to where it would have been if I hadn't. Dirty water is not going to speed the recovery, he needs clean water to heal.

I agree change some of the water and just add the correct amount of med back to the water removed.
