Hi,

Just setting up my first marine tank. 180litre Juwel Vision.

Can you recommend a powerhead for a Juwel Vision 180 that won't require too much modification of the hood etc?

BTW I am using the internal filter as another powerhead for circulation.

Thanks :)

Just seen the Tunze nanostreams.

I assume they come highly recommended?

I think the 6025 should be Ok for 180 litres as i have another powerhead from the internal filter?

Cheers,

you will need a min of 20 times turn over for coral, fish you will need less but more is always better, you would also be better off having two smaller powerheads, that flow the same as one big one. just something to think about.

two is always beter than one even if it the two have the same combined flow rate of the singal unit . hope that helps :good:

Thanks, but the nanostream would be the second. I already have one that comes built in ;)

You simply cannot go wrong with Tunze. The nano streams look great, my only disaapointment is that the smallest one that can be controlled is the 5,500LPH version (6055) which costs a lot more than the 2,500 LPH and 4,500 LPH (6025 and 6045) versions.

A 6025 would give you around 14x turnover and the output will be a far wider "stream" rather than the needle like jet from most powerheads.

I would be tempted to rip out the horrible internal filter and get another Tunze. While it will cost an extra £40 now, the Tunze only cost about 7W to run, so you will probably save the cost of the extra powerhead in about 2 years from electricity. You can then use the jewel powerhead to mix up salt water.
