Goal is to keep saltwater fish and live rock only (no plans for coral).

I currently have a Marineland 350 (for up to 75g) running.

From some reading on this forum, I now believe I need a filter built for 100g and that a canister filter is the way to go.

Recommendations?

LR is your filter, just plenty of strong powerheads :)

My LFS has recommended I use 50 pounds total - do you guys agree with that?

Makes sense. 50 lbs LR for 55 gallons of water. I got 16 lbs LR for 15 gallons of water.

I haven't got much in there but I got all zero on ammonia/nitrite/nitrate already after a few days as I bought cured LR from established display tanks from two LFS' within a half an hour distance. So I had almost no die-off on the LR.
