-_- What is the recommended breeding age for guppies? I believe it's 6 mouths old, but I want to be certain. I have a 7 young guppies (mostly female but one is certainly a male) and they are about 4 months old. Today, I noticed my young male guppy trying to breed with a female and I immediatly realized that she was too young to breed. Since my young male guppy is about the size of a small tetra and is larger than any fish mouth in my main tank, I decided to move him over into my 46 gallon tank.

This is my first fry that I raised into a juvenile and he'll be the first that I ever released! :hooray: :D

 Hi

Fry have beeen knowen to breed from 2,3 or 4 months so thats no relly abnormal.

btw well done on raising the guppy

I find my when my male fry were 3 months old they were already trying to "get with" the adult females in the community tank. But I would say a more safer age would be around 7-8 months old for a healthy breeding time. Having fry at a young age would not be good for a female, she would probably die of the stress.

 That's what I thought. The female guppies are only 3-4 months old and I knew that if they breed they were certainly not survive. My young male guppy is getting along great in the main tank, but he's still settling in since there's a great amount of space for him. Thanks for the replies!
