Recommendations For Peaceful Community Fish?

I have a 37 gallon Eclipse "show tank." I am currently in the process of cycling the tank with 5 Diamond Tetras. I am interested in having a peaceful community tank, and I would like 4 Pearl Gouramis to be the centerpiece of my tank. Based on the 1 inch of fish/total number of gallons rule, I think this leaves me with about 10 inches of fish to work with (I figured 4 inches for each Pearl Gourami and 2 inches for each Diamond Tetra). I was thinking about more tetras, corys, or plecos, but am pretty much open to anything. Do you have any suggestions?

i lose the pleco unluss u get one of the one that stay small

Oh no! I posted this question on the Gourami board and was told that 3-4 Pearls (1 male and 2-3 females) would work well together. Maybe I should look into this more before purchasing. I don't want them to kill each other.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions! I thought angels and tiger barbs were a bit nippy, but I'm new at this, so I could be totally wrong. I like Angel fish. Would it be safe for me to keep an angel fish with the pearl gourami and diamond tetras?

Yeah, that should be fine. Josiah probably thought you were going to get 4 males.
