I've decided that my 2213 is not strong enough to filter my 4ft tank correctly so I had intended on upgrading to a 2217 however due to postman pat being clumsy a purchase of a 2217 has fallen through. This has left me looking at getting a new filter.

My price range is no more than £100 and I know for that I can buy a new 2217 however I was wondering what other filters are there on sale that may be better than the 2217 for the same price range?

Eheim's regarded as the top dog generally so not sure what you are looking for really. I take it you'll be adding this new filter rather than replacing the existing one?

If you are used to and like the Eheim Classics, I'd stick with them  They have a reputation for being the best external make and model on the market

I will be running this filter along side the other for a while while the bio kicks in then hopefully after a few months removing the 2213.

Looks like it's the eheim for the win :)

I'd have a look at the tetratec range too. I run a Tetratec EX1200 on my 4ft (220l) which is home to a 6" Gibby, a 4" Oscar a Lapradei bichir and a Senegal bichir (temp home only for the gibby and oscar of course) Fab filters and you can pick em up for about £70 on ebay (new)
