So my honey gourami of 6 years died a few days ago

I'd like to add another gourami species to my tank but don't know which to chose. I'm looking for a species that won't bother my shrimp or be aggressive and one that will compliment my stocking. Stocking is in the sig...

Pearl Gourami?

Its great you had a gourami for 6 years, thats awesome?

Pearl Gouramis are one of, if not the most, docile Gouramis available. Dwarf Gouramis are pretty cool too, but they can be aggressive to certain tankmates while ignoring others. My Dwarf chased a Paradise Fish & a Platy but he doesn't even seem to notice the Glass Catfish or the Corys.

Do you have any pictures of the Honey Gourami? How big did he/she grow?

I have pics on my phone but here's a good vid of him. He was such a stunner and died overnight. He was in good health so I was surprised he passed, he'll be missed...

Wow, amazing colors he had when spawning. What was the maximum size that he grew to? And what happened to that batch of fry?

Pearls are stunning fish. A nice cobalt dwarf can look spectacular also but dwarfs do have a habit of dying for no reason.

Personally I wouldn't bother with dwarf gouramis, the only thing they do really well is... well.... die!

How about a different colour Honey Gourami? Or a pair of them? Like red ones if you had yellow or vice versa :)

Or Thicklip gouramis are great! You can get them blue and orange stripey or orange/red like bigger version of honey gourami. Personally I would get a male/female pair as they interact with each other so well, one on its own might spend more time pestering other fish.
