Recommend A Cheap Co2 System For 400ltr Juwel

Maybe you should do a PFK article about getting, connecting, and setting up pressurised co2 for the hard of thinking (i.e. me)
It's an idea I've considered actually. After removing the system from my nano and putting it onto my daughter's tank I thought to myself, "this would make a neat little step-by-step feature".

Cheers.

It would be good if it was a step by step.
Everyone who thinks about it is probably as confused as me (especially, like me again, if they have no good lfs)

Reading between the lines, do you own / run a fish shop?

Er no! Ecologist, look out for British wildlife for a living, not silly imported fishes

I have British wildlife in my pond......Tench :shifty:

For me, the two major problems with CO2 are:

1) Accurately measuring the bloody stuff dissolved in water.

2) Where to get CO2 bottles refilled?

Not having a kit yet, I could be wrong, but aren't there permanent co2 tests with the kits to be mounted in the tank ?

I know what you mean with the bottle filling.
I found this lot from one of the threads and there is a local depot.
Air Products
However, it's hard to know what they will fill, or if the bottles they hire will match what kit (JBL,DD, etc)

Yeh getting CO2 in the UK is ultra tricky if the LFS dont do it. Air products are good, but you have to rent the cylinder and they'll only refill their own cylinders, but from what I hear they are cheaper than BOC. I have heard that calor do CO2 as well. Def see if you can find a local welding shop, that would be the cheapest option, in my experience.

Aye. & I'm quite sure you know the problems relating to accurately measuring KH and HENCE accurately measuring CO2.

CO2 ppm = 3 x dKH x 10^(7.0 - pH)

IF an accurate KH is DEFINATELY known, then CO2 can be accurately measured (or at least tracked).

This is the idea behind the permenant in-tank use of drop checker filled with a reference solution of 4.0dKH & a low pH dropper test liquid indicator. (I got my Drop Checker off ebay, 'From Hong Kong' for about a fiver....)

Yeah, I followed the Mr G thread with great interest. I hope to make up a solution of 4 dKH at work, next week.

Andy, which checked did you get and how you finding it? Seen those a few times. Delivery and things ok, etc?
