I bought some of this in a bid to reduce the amount of nitrates in my tank and I have to say, I find the recharging method in the instructions a bit daunting (perhaps because I don't really have the time for it).

Instructions are to slowly run 100gms of salt mixed into a litre of water over the pouch for an hour. Then to run fresh water over the recharged pouch for 2 hours to do away with the salt. I think the Nitra-zorb product only entails placing the pouch into salt water and it is done.

Anyone know a method to recharge the Nitrasafe pouch , which is just as good as their recommended method?

Thanks.

Best advice I can give you is to throw it away and just do water changes. Your fish need clean water and you need to do maintenance on the tank to remove waste and other debris. Simple 25% water changes weekly should keep your nitrate from ever being over 10 to 20 ppm, well below any level of toxicity, unless it is present in your tap water. Very few people run any type nitrate removal filters.

I have Nitrazorb and also a similar Fluval product. They might remove nitrated but not fast enough for me to notice. The Fluval said they remomoved Nitrateas "in Hours". not so I could tell.
Water changes are the surest quickest way. 30% wc removes 30% of your nitrates, 50% wc removes 50%. Don T.

And unless your tank is very overstocked, if you do a 25% water change every week, you will never see your nitrates reach 20ppm unless it's in the tap water.

Nitrates in my tap water is 20ppm - therefore it does not dilute the nitrates in my tank by much. I do 2x20% water changes a week.

Even at that, you should be fine. If the fish produce enough to add 20 ppm per week, that's 40 ppm total which is no where near a toxic level. Quite a few people on this site most are also from the UK) have 40ppm in their tap water and don't have any problems.
