1. yep do that. maybe it's just not dark enough in surrey...do you live in the sticks where you can see the stars?1. Turn off room lights/shut curtains, photograph in the dark.
2. Ensure all tank lights are on.
3. Learn camera's exposure and white balance settings. Experiment.
4. Keep camera still when pressing button. Use self-timer if necessary.
5. Use tripod (or similar i.e. ironing board!!)
6. Buy a quality camera (mine is cheap and only 2 MP but still good quality - Olympus).
