If I want to re-arrange the decor and plants in my tank, and take the opportunity to do a water change....should I leave the fish in....or should I move them to a spare tank with some of their old tank water, heater etc? I'm not sure what would be most stressful, but i really want to have a play with the layout as i'm not very happy with it and it might take me a while.

i always leave my fish in while i re-arrange their tank, they dont seem to be too bothered tbh

same here, i just leave the fish in the tank, probably less stressful for the fish than moving them.

I guess it depends on how large your tank is... I wouldn't like to move rocks, wood and replant whilst fish are still in , say, a 5/10G... not enough room for the fish to 'escape' the rearranging... of course, in a larger tank there will be plenty of space for them to 'run' to - whilst you alter the other end of the tank...

Yeah. I've got a 20G, but there are only 5 danio's in it. I've done it already and left them in, it was alright but they seemed to come investigate what i was doing instead of running away. :S

Yeah just leave them in. Be careful not to smack them with anything though, and always look before you put something down. My fish LOVE to swim under things that could crush them. Or get their faces slammed into the glass. You get the idea
