Iv got 2 discus which have spawned and now are looking after the eggs in turn

What do i need to rear the fry when they get to around 3 weeks old and are ready to go into there own tank?
Cheers steve

Normally around a 50g bare bottom tank will suffice with basic filtration (like a sponge filter.) It will also depend how big the spawn is. At least 100% w/c daily this is a minimum for proper growth, I would personally set up a drip system on top of this. Feeding 6-10 times a day.

BUT, what exactly are the strains of your breeding Discus? Some fish just aren't compatible with each other.

One is a turquoise and the other is orangy with some red bits and some white on its fins.

im going to see what happens this time, if they starting spawing next time i will think more about breeding properly

Is this orange fish pigeon blood based? Does he have pepper on him? Pics would help, but if he is pigeon based, this will develop some not so desirable fry due to heavy peppering.

I guess you could try rearing a spawn, might throw some interesting fry. Do you have any extra tanks? A hospital tank or anything? For a small batch a 29 or 30 gallon should suffice.

Just had a good look at the fish and its got some pepering on its face on a little on the top, but none on the main body.

no iv got nothing at the min

If there is any peppering it is PB based and will throw heavily peppered fry. Not a good mix IMO. You should see if you can find another male/female that will be compatible for each fish. You could have two nice pairs this way!
