Water stats are good! The normal cycled tank!

The fish is a Cichlid, not sure on the species as I don't think it will really differ much in this situation. I can get the species if needed, just too lazy right now!

He has an EXTREME case of a loss of color, almost pale, and his aggression as gone THROUGH THE ROOF!!!! He is WAY more aggressive than he usually his, or other Cichlids for that matter.

Oh, and did I mention his anus is EXTREMELY inflamed!

I really do not have the time to watch him poo to see if it is long, clearish and stringy. Really busy on the weekends as I am home from college and this is the only time I can get some necessary stuff done.

Any ideas on what it may be, or more importantly how I should treat it?

Thanks guys!

anti internal parasite med/dewormer. treat the whole tank.
good luck:)

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Inflamed anus can be constipation, dropsy, internal parasites.

Signs of internal parasites are.
Long stringy white poo, clear mucas poo, red poo.
Fish will look bloated or skinny.
Enlarged anus, red inflamed anus.
Bent spine.
Sunken in belly.
Worms prutruding from the anus.
Fish will sometimes swim on it's side.

What do you feed the fish?

Ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate about 10. I feed Wardley cichlid flakes/pellets, and weekly frozen brine shrimp or blood worms.

55 gallon tank with 8 African Cichlids and 2 Lace catfish.

The anus is not red, just clearish and really inflamed!

Thanks!

Are the fish showing anymore symtoms.
Does the fish look bloated.
Are scales sticking out.
Research the fish diet needs as never kept these type of fish.
For now try some shelled peas.

Okay, thanks Wilder!

You know, he may just be constipated?

The food I am feeding these guys is really good for them. Some flakes/pellets and once a week frozen brine shrimp and/or blood worms; this is what members here recommended me to do.

So, I hope the the food is just fine.

The only thing is though, when I am gone during the week at college my mom takes over the my fish. So, she could be over-feeding? Not sure though?

Thanks Wilder!

Ok.
Do a search on the fish diet needs to make sure he getting everything he needs.
If no improvement after a few days get back to the board.
Try some peas.
