i purchased a female and male guppy from my lfs about a week ago and noticed that he didnt seem interested in my female infact she would chase him around the tank lol with that i just thought he was young and wasnt developed yet even though he was a fir size ...anyway i just purchased another male guppie today along with my new killifish hes fantastic :).... after about an hour of them booth settling down into their new home i looked in and found my older male guppie chasing my new male guppie around the tank like mad getting really exited about it lol ... my new male guppie is trying to chase around my female guppie but he is consttly being chased by the other male lol

very funny i think lol

what do you lot think of this

Its likely that it was the female that wasn't ready to breed.

doubt he's gay, he's probably chasing the other one away from 'his' female and 'his' territory.

Yeah, male guppies will try to breed with anything that moves...

my new male guppie is breeding with her now as i type this and she seems fine with him ..she is defo ready but my olda male keeps chasin the other male even when the new male hides and is nower to be seen the olda male guppie is looing for him and not interested in the female at all

you should keep guppies in a 1male 2female ratio. your older male will be chasing the other male because your new one is taking his female and is taking over.
you should get more females and i think the chasing will stop. :good:

Spot on.

And it dose sound like before the females was not intrested in breeding. This is how they display to the male when not intrested, she drop's her head and shimmies to the male.

Also watch out for your killi these are generally nippy and guppies may get shredded fins.

I had just one male guppy in my 200l and he was always trying to mate with the female sword tails but now he is in a 60l tank with 2 females which are about 8weeks old seems a bit more settled now.
