I went down pets @ home the other day wasnt very impressed with the fact they had a few dead fishies in the tanks which were being munched on but guess that happens in most lfs? also one fish was led on the bottom obviously in distress though the cichlid tank looked ok

Anyway I got 2 cichlids and now since adding them all fish are flicking against the rocks and sand  cant be anything else as all fish were fine before seems to of only happend since adding theese 2.Quite annoyed to be honest as I put faith in buying theese fish now my whole tank is infected!!! I know I should have quarantined them but right now I dont have a spare tank to do this (This is now top of my list)

Off to go get some whitespot treatment today can someone clairfy the temperature to speed the lifecycle up and also I know its good to clean the substrate well with this but I have sand so cant?

ive only had my cichlids a little while so im obviously annoyed and sad about this

I would personally not touch P@H with a barge pole after my last inccident.

There fish health is lowsey. I went into a shop to buy a Blue Ram female for my male and they all had whitespot.

I took the female home (with white spot) to quarantine her in my smaller tank as I had to promise that I would not go back for a refund as they were not supposed to sell them when they were ill. And I had said I was desperate for a female.

She died anyway and when I went back all her tank mates were still covered in white spots (weeks later) and when I said to a girl that they needed quarantining as they has this disease it was like

"Yeah what ever"
:( :/

Maybe I should not have bought her in the first place but I was kinda desperate at that point.
Right P@H bashing finished.

I would use your syphone to try to clean your sand. Remember one of the stages of white spot is that it sits in your substrate (or something like that).
If you search for white spot on the top of the forum under search something should come up to help.

You can raise the temp to 80-82 to help speed up the cycle of the parasite, when you add the med, interpet, protozin, whichever med you get, remember to increase aeration in the tank as the combined with the med and the extra temp, oxygen levels will drop, so either add an airstone or turn the filter outlet to break the surface more.

Do a good clean of the sand and a 30% water change prior to adding the med also. If the whitespot does go with the meds, I would also do a second course of medication to be on the safe side.

Thank you im about to go do it now I have a 18cm air curtain running and the outlet breaks the surafce well.Im still pretty peeved about this though I wont be buying fish there again

Unfortunately P@H dont have the best rep for fish, I must admit the stores Ive been too around my area have been ok, never bought fish from them mind you, but did get a couple of apple snails couple of months back with no problems.

Best of luck, caught early ich is usually easy to treat and clears up.
