I have returned lots of fish thanks to advice found here. Please advise if you think these occupants will work.

I now have in my rio 400

2 sengal birchir 7in

2 ornate birchir 5in

1 angel 5in

1 sailfin pleco 7in

1 tiger oscar 4-5in

1 tetradon mbu 5-6in

1 rtbs 2in

6 clown loach 1-2in

I know how big mbu will get but for the moment I feel this is ok. Its about 25% of the fish that used to share this tank. hat do you guys think.

better!!!

the oscar will eat the angel when he gets a bit bigger, and at that size they grow fast, expect him to be 10" in the next 6 months, by the time he's 6/7 he's likely to have a pop at the angel.

i don't know a hell of a lot about mbu's, but they get pretty big and i don't know how they do with companions :/

can you remind me how many gallons the rio 400 is?

i think if you take the angel and the mbu out of the equation that could work, it's a little bottom heavy though so i'd consider swapping one of the bottom dwellers for something more free swimming.

your certainly getting there though!

at last a reply! someone cares. I've been to the soding lfs three times over xmas to drop off fish. They think I'm nuts. I know what you mean about bottom heavy. but with only one pleco there is quite a bit of room. I'm not trading in the mbu as he is the "owner" of the tank. he cost £90. he stays. The angel is about 25 times the height of the oscars mouth so safe for a bit I reckon.

Seems like a lot of room for all fish at the moment its around just over 100 gal I think.....

the oscar will grow pretty quickly, in the first year of they're life they regulrarly get to 10".... if your O is half that he's probably 6 months old. so i reckon you've got max 6 months grace before he tries to eat it! :/

your call on the mbu, like i said i'm not tha familiar with them so i'm not qualified to comment any further.

i knwo the feeling, out 80g tank has just 4 fish in, sometimes we wish we'd gone for smaller fish so we could have more, but it's full as it is so no chance of gettin more fish. that's the trade off with big fish, the tank's can look empty cos they all need loads of room. :/

stocking sounds a lot better now mate well done :good:
you better start saving for a upgrade for that mbu if you cant part with it :D
