Re. Pregnant Platy

Hello,

I'm new to the keeping of tropical fish, I do know some basics however.

Anyway one of my platy's was/is pregnant and around 10 mins ago I noticed that it was giving birth and I could clearly see one of the fry on it's way out !

I went to fetch the breeding net in order to allow the birth to go well and I noticed that the fry had disappeared and one of the larger male platy's was closely following the female.

It may sound daft but is it possible that the fry has been eaten while still not fully delivered (?).

Any help would be great.

It's not daft, it's very likely that your platy fry was eaten, either while being born or shortly afterwards. The livebearer section of our forum will probably be able to help you out a bit more.
