Yesterday I have had to remove one of my two female neon dwarf gouramis to the hospital tank to treat with anti-internal bacteria med because a red sore appeared on her side. obviously once/if it gets better i will re-introduce her to the main tank which contains the other female and a male.

Can anyone anticipate any problems this may cause?

Cheers

Jon

Well either on of the gouramis could die again, from the sounds of it your are unlucky enough to have a bad source of dwarf gouramis (like myself too).
Really I'd recommend sticking with the male for as long as you can, and not replacing him if he goes, they can be more trouble than they are worth.
Try other gouramis, like honey gouramis or pearl gouramis...although I have heard some rumors that if it's DGIV, it can be passed to other gourmis. Don't know if it's true, but if your dwarf gouramis die, wait a month or two before getting more gouramis.

Research has shown that a good percentage of fish imported have DGIV, it's around 25%. So if you may need to find another supplier.

If I'm wrong, and the gourami died after getting infections from bad water conditions or something like that, then adding a female would be no problem :good:.
